PRACTICAL MMD GUIDE

Make your first 30-second MMD scene

Finish a small scene end to end: a permitted model and motion, camera, sound, a test render, and credits.

OUTCOME

A short test video and a project folder with the source and terms for each asset.

STEP BY STEP

01

Choose and record your assets

Collect one model, one motion, and one stage or background. Save the original source URL and usage terms beside each file. If a condition is unclear, do not include that asset.

Check: Your credits note has a source and permission status for every asset.
02

Build and save a short scene

Load the model and motion, set a 30-second end frame, then save the project. Check ground contact and obvious clipping before adding detail.

Check: The project reopens and the model stays visible throughout the planned shot.
03

Check camera and sound

Use a simple camera path that keeps the full character visible. Add permitted audio, align a clear beat, and listen to the beginning and end.

Check: No body parts leave the frame unintentionally and the audio is not clipped.
04

Render a test and credit it

Export a short, low-cost test first. Watch it outside MMD, fix framing or sync, then make the final copy and place complete credits in the description.

Check: The final file plays with sound and its description identifies the original sources.

IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG

Quick checks

  • If the model is invisible, check its path and MMD-compatible format.
  • If the feet slide, inspect motion-to-model compatibility and adjust the camera or keys.
  • If audio is silent, verify the source file and playback device before rerendering.
